Do You Know Where To Buy Black Castor Oil?

By Joan Clark

Do you know where to buy black castor oil, or can you make it at home? I heard it’s more powerful than the regular kind. I want the best castor oil for skin care.

Shirley Clark, Pompano, Florida

There are many places where you can buy black castor oil, but making it at home isn’t the best option. Castor oil is derived from a poisonous plant called Ricinus Communis. While it’s possible to roast the beans and press them at home to extract the oil, it’s not safe. Instead, check with your local supermarket, organic food store, or even online at Amazon here.

What sets Jamaican black castor oil apart from regular castor oil is the amount of time they roast the beans and cook them. The high amount of ash content from the prolonged cooking makes the oil a darker color. And the ash is what makes the black castor oil more powerful.

Either kind of castor oil is excellent for skin care. You can use it in so many ways all over your body, including on your hair. For example, if you want longer eyelashes, thicker eyebrows, or stronger hair, put castor oil on those areas.

If you have wrinkles, fine lines, cracked or chapped skin, or even a sunburn, castor oil can treat those problems. Since it’s a vegetable-based natural oil, many people use it to clean their skin and get rid of acne. Others combine castor oil with baking soda to get rid of skin tags or moles.

Of course, you can also take castor oil internally to relieve constipation or add some omega fatty acids to your diet. But as with all things you haven’t tried before, start with small amounts of castor oil to see how you react. Test it on a little patch of skin and wait a day before you apply it on a large area.

I hope this helps you get the most out of castor oil.
