I had a home custom-built in a new suburb. The area’s still under heavy development. There is a lot of open land near where I live and the contractor says that’s the problem. I have mice living in my new garage and house. I don’t want to kill them, but I want to know natural ways how to keep mice out of home.

It turns out there are several natural ways to how to keep mice out of the home. Let’s go over a few of them so you can start evicting those rodents right away.
Although you have a new house, I would recommend going over every nook and cranny to make sure the mice haven’t created an entryway for themselves. Caulk up and block any hole you encounter. They could be as small as a quarter of an inch. As an added protection, soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and leave them where you suspect the mice enter. Peppermint is a natural mouse deterrent. https://www.tipsbulletin.com/how-to-get-rid-of-mice-home-remedies/
Also, keep tree and bush branches at least six inches away from the sides of your home. And don’t leave any piles of construction materials or places where mice could hide. You may have success spraying a mixture of apple cider vinegar or sherry vinegar and water around the exterior of your home to repel rats. This repels mice and spiders, too.
Inside your home, seal up all food in sturdy containers. This includes pet food. Clean up any spills or crumbs right away, and clean the floors each night. If the mice don’t have the temptation of food to draw them inside, they may end up leaving on their own. Plus, you can install ultrasonic devices that pulse out sounds that deter them from sticking around.
Hope it helps,
