It would be difficult to find a household that doesn’t at least have one box of baking soda somewhere in the home. This staple has applications for cleaning the house, swimming pool and hot tub, your body, and getting rid of insects. Sodium bicarbonate is inexpensive, easily accessible and has hundreds of beneficial uses.

What is baking soda? Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is used for cleaning all parts of the kitchen, bathroom, laundry and laundry room, as well as having uses elsewhere around the house. It effectively deodorizes clothes, sinks, your underarms, the oven and dishwasher, floors, carpets, your teeth, and removes stains from clothes and other surfaces. It also soothes irritated skin and serves as a moisturizer. There is likely no better product with so many varying uses.

Use baking soda for plants in the garden and yard to control pests like aphids, spider mites, grubs, gnats, and mosquitoes. It also helps as an insect repellent. Tamper weed growth with a baking soda solution and make tomatoes sweeter by adding to the soil around these plants. Treat powdery mildew and fungus and amend the soil with baking soda, as well.How to clean suede can be a challenge due to the delicate nature of the fabric. Small stains and scuffs can often be handled with a suede brush and vinegar.
