What are the Best Houseplants for Low Light?

By Joan Clark

What are the best houseplants for low light? I moved into a basement apartment that needs sprucing up.

It’s a great idea to spruce up your apartment with plants. Not only do they beautify the space, but they also purify the air.  So if you want to know what are the best houseplants for low light, check this article: https://www.tipsbulletin.com/low-light-houseplants/ I’ll cover some of the highlights here.

It’s nice to know that although these plants work well for your home, they are also ideal as low light office plants. Adding greenery around the office serves the same purpose as in a house. Plants purify the air and add some ambiance to a desk, reception area, or a conference table. You can’t go wrong adding plants to any interior.

First, there is lucky bamboo, which is one of the easiest to grow. It thrives in high humidity and dim light, making it one of the best plants for bathroom.

Second, snake plants purify the air by removing toxins like the VOCs from plastic. They tolerate infrequent watering, making them popular for offices, too.

Third, if you love hanging pots, try a spider plant. It’s another that likes high humidity like that of a kitchen or bathroom. In fact, you’ll want to mist it for best results.

Next, ferns also need misting. But they are efficient at cleaning chemicals from the air. Plus, many different types add visual interest to any shelf or corner.

Now if you’re interested in colorful plants, perhaps ones with blooms, try the next three.

The Chinese Evergreen is not so much green as it is also red, yellow, and pink. It stays healthy even when it doesn’t get regular watering. And it will become quite large if you repot it on occasion.

After that, there’s the silver and green-leaved Calathea. Some of these plants also have swirls of pink or purple, too.

Finally, Bromeliads bloom in various colors. They love humidity and are excellent very low light houseplants. Moreover, some grow best as air plants without conventional soil. One of these types would certainly be a conversation-starter for guests.

I hope you find satisfaction in decorating with these houseplants. Best wishes for your new home.
